Job Description

A local mining company is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced SHE Manager Safety and Health to join their team. With a strong presence in the mining sector, the company is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its workforce.

The local mining company is looking for a highly skilled and motivated SHE Manager Safety and Health to oversee and manage the safety and health initiatives within the organization.

As the SHE Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a safe working environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a passion for ensuring the welfare of employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local regulations and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
  • Provide guidance and training to employees on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and develop strategies for prevention.
  • Analyze safety data and trends to identify areas for improvement and develop proactive safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure that safety requirements are integrated into work processes and projects.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety incidents, training, and inspections.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders on safety matters and ensure compliance with their requirements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in safety regulations to proactively address emerging issues.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety and health management, preferably in the mining industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of local safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively communicate and engage with employees at all levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Certification in relevant safety and health programs, such as NEBOSH or OSHA, is highly desirable.
  • Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
