Job Description

The Infrastructure and Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ) is a national Development Finance Institution (DFI) dedicated to supporting infrastructure and development across various sectors of the economy.

The bank focuses on areas such as Water and Sanitation, Housing, Irrigation Infrastructure, Transport, and Energy. Through financial and technical assistance, the IDBZ contributes to the National Development Agenda, promoting the infrastructure value chain, agri-businesses, tourism, health and education, mining, export-oriented businesses, metals production, and the manufacturing sector.

IDBZ is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Officer to join our dynamic team. As a Procurement Officer, you will play a vital role in providing procurement, general administration, and support services to the bank.

Your responsibilities will include receiving internal purchase requisitions, sourcing potential suppliers, placing purchase orders, assisting in procurement processes for projects, and maintaining procurement records. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive internal purchase requisitions (IPRs) from various departments, units, and divisions.
  • Record and verify IPRs in the register, ensuring alignment with the budget and Stores team.
  • Seek approval from the superior and engage with other departments to determine procurement requirements and product specifications.
  • Issue Requests for Quotations to potential suppliers on the bank’s approved suppliers list.
  • Conduct market research to gather information about products and suppliers.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders to awarded suppliers.
  • Prepare price comparisons, approved specifications, and delivery dates for review by the Chief Procurement Officer.
  • Track deliveries and ensure the bank receives the ordered items from suppliers.
  • Expedite outstanding orders and respond to customer queries.
  • Assist in the procurement process for projects, maintaining procurement records and participating in evaluation committees.
  • File and track bid securities, performance securities, retention, advance payment guarantees, and other procurement-related documents.
  • Coordinate and document procurement meetings.
  • Initiate the drafting of annual procurement plans and monthly procurement returns.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Supply, Civil Engineering, Economics, Law, Applied Sciences, Financial Analysis, Architecture, or equivalent technical qualifications.
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience and a proven track record in procurement and supply.
  • Mature and confident individual with strong communication and report-writing skills.
