Job Description

Musasa is a national NGO that has been dedicated to addressing Violence against Women (VAW) since its establishment in 1988. With a strong focus on providing direct support to survivors of Gender-based Violence, Musasa also actively engages in public education and awareness-raising initiatives to combat VAW.

As a partner of UNPFA, Musasa is currently implementing the CERF PROJECT across various districts in Zimbabwe, including Buhera, Chimanimani, Mwenezi, Chiredzi, Hwange, Umguza, Beitbridge, and Gwanda.

Musasa is looking for a compassionate and skilled Counselor to join the organization’s dynamic team. As a Counselor, you will play a crucial role in providing counseling services and support to survivors of Gender-Based Violence. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals affected by violence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct day-to-day counseling sessions for survivors of Gender-Based Violence.
  • Follow up on cases and ensure effective case management.
  • Provide group and individual counseling within communities.
  • Coordinate with partners in the GBV referral network.
  • Disseminate information about available services to surrounding communities.
  • Participate in outreach programs to raise awareness of available GBV response services.
  • Attend district meetings to contribute insights and collaborate with relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other project implementing partners in the district.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of counseling sessions.
  • Provide support and guidance to ensure the well-being of survivors.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Counselling, Degree in Social Work, or any related social science degree.
  • An additional qualification in Development Studies would be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar counseling role.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to quickly grasp new topics, issues, and disciplines.
  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills, working effectively with various stakeholders.
