Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) is looking for 16 diligent and self-motivated Investigations Officers to join the Revenue Assurance Division. As an Investigations Officer, you will be responsible for implementing revenue enhancement projects, conducting investigations, analyzing revenue collections, and recommending actions to enhance revenue collection.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial integrity of Zimbabwe by upholding tax compliance and combating illicit activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement revenue enhancement projects as guided by the investigations specialist.
  • Respond to submissions made to legal in response to court appeal cases.
  • Participate in the carrying out of raids on cases under investigation.
  • Prepare case final reports and recommend case finalization.
  • Approve and recommend waivers of penalties and interest up to 80%.
  • Recommend garnishee and asset attachment orders in the collection of debts.
  • Analyze revenue collections and performance on cases under investigation against targets daily, recommending actions to the Investigations Specialist.
  • Implement measures to meet set targets daily as guided by the Investigations Specialist.
  • Review reports on revenue collections and recommend actions to enhance revenue collection.
  • Recommend cases for prosecution in the portfolio of cases under investigation.
  • Recommend debt management strategies for the section.
  • Implement sectional debt management strategies.
  • Participate in all sectional compliance enforcement activities on an ongoing basis.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure effective investigations and information sharing.
  • Stay updated with changes in tax legislation and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records related to investigations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Studies, Finance, Fiscal Studies, Commerce, Law, or Social Science.
  • Minimum five (5) years of post-traineeship work experience in a Domestic Taxes environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of Domestic Taxes legislation and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the TARMS system is an advantage.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work under pressure and beyond stipulated hours.
  • Unquestionable integrity.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
