Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) is looking for seven highly skilled and motivated Chief Investigations Specialists to join the Revenue Assurance Division. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing investigations, ensuring adherence to procedures, and implementing strategies to enhance revenue and mitigate risks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft procedures and instructions to ensure operational effectiveness and alignment with divisional goals.
  • Conduct quarterly adherence exercises to assess compliance with established procedures.
  • Provide recommendations for improvement to the Regional Manager based on adherence exercise findings.
  • Review and finalize responses to objections from various sections, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  • Monitor and expedite the processing of appeals through the legal process within the division.
  • Compile and submit revenue enhancement project reports to the Regional Manager.
  • Implement initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency within the division.
  • Develop and recommend risk management strategies for the section.
  • Identify risk categories and propose appropriate actions to be taken.
  • Implement approved corrective actions on a monthly basis.
  • Devise strategies to achieve case and revenue targets within the section.
  • Execute initiatives to expand the revenue base in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Administer risk management processes and business continuity plans.
  • Provide guidance to investigators on complex cases and manage the overall workload.
  • Plan, monitor, and allocate resources effectively within the investigations teams.
  • Conduct disciplinary hearings in cases of code of conduct violations.
  • Organize and participate in workshops and seminars for clients on technical issues.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Studies, Finance, Fiscal Studies, Commerce, Law, or Social Science.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a supervisory role within a Domestic Taxes or Revenue Assurance environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of Domestic Taxes and Customs legislation and procedures.
  • An MBA/MSc is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in using TaRMS and ASYCUDA systems is required.
