Job Description

Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) is an established government agency responsible for revenue collection and administration in Zimbabwe.

As a leader in its sector, ZIMRA plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with fiscal laws and regulations, contributing to the country’s economic stability and growth.

Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) is looking for 14 highly skilled and motivated Investigations Specialists to join the Revenue Assurance Division. This position offers a great opportunity to contribute to revenue enhancement projects, ensure compliance, and support the organization’s overall mission.

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to maintaining revenue integrity and upholding fiscal laws.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recommending and initiating revenue enhancement projects to meet set targets.
  • Reviewing submissions made to legal in response to court appeal cases.
  • Supervising raids on cases under investigation.
  • Recommending case finalization and waivers of penalties and interest.
  • Approving payment plans ranging from 3 to 6 months.
  • Recommending garnishee and asset attachment orders for debt collection.
  • Analyzing revenue collections and performance on cases under investigation against targets daily, providing recommendations to the Chief Investigations Officer.
  • Implementing measures to meet set targets and reviewing reports on revenue collections.
  • Recommending cases for prosecutions and reviewing the revenue collection strategy.
  • Monitoring unit performance through reports.
  • Recommending debt management strategies and implementing sectional debt management strategies.
  • Making recommendations to reduce compliance costs to the Chief Investigations Specialist.
  • Reviewing operations to ensure investigative, detection, and enforcement actions are consistent with the provisions of the law, recommending changes.
  • Utilizing rolled-out ASYCUDA World and TaRMS modules.
  • Ensuring investigations officers have up-to-date fiscal laws and departmental instructions on a daily basis.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Fiscal Studies, Business Studies, Business Management, Business Administration, Sociology, or equivalent, OR Full CIS OR Higher National Diploma in Accounting/Business Studies or equivalent.
  • An MBA/MSc is an added advantage.
  • Thorough knowledge of Customs & Excise legislation and procedures.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in Investigations, Customs & Excise, and/or Taxes working environment in a supervisory grade.
  • Knowledge of TARMS and/or ASYCUDA World is a prerequisite.
