Job Description

Zim-TTECH is a registered Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO 125/23) operating in the field of health system strengthening. With a focus on epidemiology, strategic information strengthening, health workforce development, operations research and evaluation, and prevention, care, and treatment of infectious diseases, Zim-TTECH plays a vital role in improving healthcare services in Zimbabwe.

Zim-TTECH is looking for 10 dedicated Relief Drivers to join the organisation’s dynamic team. As a Relief Driver, you will provide essential support to the program teams in various districts, including Lupane, Tsholotsho, Nkayi, Umguza, and Bubi.

This role involves reliable and safe driving services, efficient vehicle maintenance, and adherence to road safety regulations. Join Zim-TTECH and contribute to the enhancement of healthcare delivery in Zimbabwe.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide reliable and safe driving services to program and authorized personnel as directed.
  • Ensure cost-savings through proper use of vehicles and accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs and required documentation.
  • Request fuel and cash travel advances following established procedures.
  • Conduct vehicle checks before each trip and maintain cleanliness of the vehicle’s interior and exterior.
  • Report any vehicle faults promptly to the Logistics Department and coordinate planned maintenance and repairs.
  • Comply with local rules and regulations in case of accidents, reporting incidents to the police and informing the supervisor and Logistics Department.
  • Adhere to Zimbabwe road rules, including speed limits, and possess a valid driver’s license at all times.
  • Uphold the non-smoking policy in the organization’s vehicles and ensure passengers do not smoke inside.
  • Maintain proper documentation related to assigned vehicles.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 “O” level passes, including English.
  • Possession of a clean class 2 driver’s license.
  • Valid defensive driver’s license is a must.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar driving role.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance is desirable.
  • Familiarity with the country’s roads and routes.
