Midlands State University (MSU) is looking for a skilled Payroll Manager to join its dynamic team. As a Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely disbursement of salaries. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Formulating and implementing payroll policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring and reviewing payroll policies for compliance with statutory regulations and internal operating procedures.
  • Ensuring the integrity of the payroll system through the enforcement of policies, standard operating procedures, processes, and systems.
  • Coordinating and supervising subordinates to ensure efficient and focused performance.
  • Classifying and verifying monthly salary inputs, mail, and documents related to the university’s payroll before the capturing process begins.
  • Accurately inputting tax tables, FDS credits, adjustments, tax directives, and other credits into the payroll system.
  • Conducting checks on the accuracy of the data capturing process prior to the final preparation of the payroll.
  • Ensuring the timely availability of summary reports for salary payments and monthly reports for statutory payments such as NSSA, pension, PAYE, medical aid, and pay advices.
  • Supervising reconciliations related to payroll transactions.
  • Generating deduction schedules for service providers.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Master’s degree in Business Management or Accounting.
  • Diploma or certificate in Payroll Administration.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in payroll supervision.
  • Proficiency in using payroll systems such as Belina, Paywell, or any other similar system.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Excellent numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Highly computer literate.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
