The Avenues Clinic is looking for a highly skilled Pharmacy Manager to join the company’s dynamic team. As the Pharmacy Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the pharmacy department, ensuring efficient operations, and maintaining high standards of pharmaceutical care.

This pivotal role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership abilities and a passion for delivering quality healthcare services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring the performance of the retail pharmacy and making recommendations for adjustments to ensure business viability and profitability.
  • Reviewing and approving orders for all pharmacy stocks within the hospital.
  • Receiving and addressing end user requests for drugs and sundries, primarily from doctors.
  • Monitoring stock levels of critical items in the Hospital Management System (HMS) to ensure the availability of correct stocks of the highest quality for use and sale.
  • Reviewing stock valuation reports in the HMS to effectively manage overstocking or understocking situations. Additionally, reviewing drug and sundry prices in the HMS to ensure accurate and profitable pricing.
  • Providing explanations for stock variances based on sock counts and system stock balances.
  • Planning and supervising departmental stock takes to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Ensuring timely dispensing, distribution, and usage of all stock items throughout the hospital.
  • Checking audit trails of stock movements to maintain transparency and accountability.
  • Initiating the creation and review of pharmacy procedures to improve operational efficiency.
  • Assisting in lecturing assigned topics in the Nursing School to contribute to the development of future healthcare professionals.
  • Facilitating the registration and licensing process for all pharmacy department staff and premises, adhering to the regulations set forth by the Pharmacist Council of Zimbabwe.
  • Creating and maintaining Pre-Registration Pharmacist student attachment training plans in compliance with the rules prescribed by the Pharmacist Council of Zimbabwe.
  • Verifying the validity of licenses for Medicines Control Authority Zimbabwe (MCAZ) premises and individuals in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing comprehensive departmental monthly reports and board reports to ensure effective communication and decision-making.
  • Setting and agreeing on key performance indicators (KPIs) and reviewing the performance of direct reports to ensure optimal productivity and development.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy Honors Degree.
  • Membership of the Pharmacists Council of Zimbabwe is mandatory, along with holding an open practicing certificate.
  • Proven minimum of 8 years’ working experience as a pharmacist, with at least 3 years in a pharmacy managerial role.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment while maintaining the highest quality service and standards to meet aggressive turn-around requirements.
  • Capability to perform successfully under pressure.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to effectively work within cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and organizational skills.
