Job Description
The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) is a government agency responsible for the management of national parks, game reserves, and other protected areas in Zimbabwe.
As part of our efforts to provide high-quality services to visitors, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to join our team. The incumbent will report to the Compliance, Monitoring and Evaluation Manager.
The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be responsible for overseeing the monitoring and evaluation activities of the agency. The Officer will work closely with other departments to ensure that our conservation efforts are aligned with our goals and objectives. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical and communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assisting the Manager in reviewing and evaluating Authority procedures and reports to identify hidden or non-conformity issues,
- Assisting in the development and strengthening of monitoring, inspection and evaluation procedures,
- Monitoring of all project activities, expenditures and progress towards achieving project outputs,
- Providing feedback to the Manager on project strategies and activities,
- Suggesting strategies to the Manager for improving efficiency and effectiveness of the Authority’s systems and projects by identifying gaps and recommending plans to minimize and eliminate such gaps,
- Assisting in monitoring and evaluating overall progress on achievement of results,
- Drafting monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual progress reports on all project activities to the Manager,
- Participating in planning workshops and assisting the manager in preparing relevant reports,
- Assisting in coordinating across the available components of the Authority to ensure effective implementation of Monitoring and Evaluation,
- Assisting in preparing other relevant reports,
- Assisting in organizing and conducting training on Monitoring and Evaluation,
- Assisting in the preparation of reports on the findings and lessons learned from project innovations and maintaining the monitoring and evaluation database.
Qualifications and Experience
- A first degree in Monitoring and Evaluation,
- A Masters’ degree in Monitoring and Evaluation will be an added advantage,
- A Clean Class 4 Drivers’ License,
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office Packages, Statistical Packages, SPSS and Starter,
- Excellent Communication and Writing skills,
- Good analytical skills,
- At least 2 years relevant experience
