Job Description

The Small And Medium Enterprises Development Corporation (SMEDCO) is a renowned development finance institution established in 1983 through an Act of Parliament in Zimbabwe.

SMEDCO’s primary objective is to promote the growth and development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs), as well as cooperatives, by providing lending facilities and offering capacity building initiatives. With a strong focus on supporting the SME sector, SMEDCO plays a vital role in driving economic empowerment and fostering entrepreneurship.

SMEDCO is looking for three highly skilled and motivated Business Analysts to join their dynamic teams in Masvingo, Bulawayo and Harare. As a Business Analyst, you will be responsible for handling loan inquiries, processing applications, administering accounts, and acting as a representative of SMEDCO. This role involves conducting in-depth analysis, assessing project viability, and ensuring successful project implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce brief analysis reports on project backgrounds for funding approval, ensuring informed decision making.
  • Evaluate reports to assess the viability of projects, guaranteeing successful implementation.
  • Conduct credit checks on clients’ financial history.
  • Conduct periodic visits to clients with ongoing projects, assess project operations, and provide solutions to address challenges.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify and mitigate risks for the organization’s benefit.
  • Produce reports highlighting how SMEs are benefiting from funds availed by SMEDCO.
  • Conduct financial appraisals for applicants seeking financial assistance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve lending processes and enhance customer experience.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes related to SMEs and lending.
  • Provide support and guidance to colleagues and assist in knowledge sharing.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in Economics, Business Studies, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, or a relevant qualification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Familiarity with the SME sector or lending environment is an advantage.
  • Possession of a clean Class 4 Driver’s License.
