Zimbabwe Media Commission is a regulatory body responsible for overseeing and ensuring the proper functioning of media activities in Zimbabwe.

With a focus on promoting independent editorial oversight, sustainable funding for public service media, and delivering value for the public, the commission plays a crucial role in shaping the media landscape. As a key institution in the media sector, Zimbabwe Media Commission contributes to the development and integrity of the media industry in the country.

Zimbabwe Media Commission is looking for a proactive and dedicated Training and Standards Development Officer – Grade: D3/D4 to join the company’s dynamic team in Harare. As a Training and Standards Development Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing training programs, workshops, and activities to enhance the skills and knowledge of media practitioners.

Your role will involve conducting training needs assessments, developing training modules and manuals, monitoring media reportage, and organizing competitions and awards. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and professional development of the media industry in Zimbabwe.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and coordinate appropriate training programs, workshops, and activities for the formal and informal training of media practitioners.
  • Conduct training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and areas for improvement within the media industry.
  • Develop training modules and manuals on specific areas to enhance the capabilities of media professionals.
  • Monitor media reportage to identify gaps in training and address them effectively.
  • Organize and oversee competitions and awards to promote excellence and innovation in the media sector.
  • Stay updated with emerging trends and best practices in media training and standards development.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of training programs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation related to training and standards development activities.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and guidelines for media training and standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline such as training, media studies, or social sciences. A deep understanding of the media sector is required.
  • At least two years of experience in a training role or any relevant experience with traceable references.
  • Strong report writing, planning, and organizing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with training methodologies and adult learning principles.
