NUST is looking for skilled and motivated Telecommunications Technicians to join the university’s dynamic team. As a Telecommunications Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the university’s telecommunications systems.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of communication technologies in an academic setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair telephone equipment, including landline phones, VoIP phones, and PBX systems.
  • Provide technical support to internal staff and handle adds, changes, and deletes of IP Telephone services.
  • Troubleshoot telephone problems and resolve issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Connect and configure telephone lines and services as required.
  • Run and splice telephone cables to ensure proper connectivity.
  • Program telephone features such as call forwarding and voicemail.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of telecommunications systems.
  • Collaborate with the Network Manager to identify and implement system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Stay updated with emerging telecommunications technologies and trends.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, or an equivalent field.
  • At least 3 years of post-qualification experience in telecommunications systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of telecommunications systems, including IP-based PBX systems, analogue phones, and telephone handset maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse community of users.
