Lupane State University seeks an experienced Telecommunications Technician to maintain critical phone systems on campus. This hands-on role ensures smooth operations of modern PBX infrastructure through installation, configuration, and issue resolution.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Install, configure and optimize Alcatel and other PBX telephone systems
• Maintain connectivity for Voice over IP (VoIP) and analog telephone services
• Troubleshoot hardware or software issues to ensure system uptime
• Configure new extensions, office phones, conference units and services
• Upgrade existing systems through approved deployment of patches
• Repair or replace defective components based on diagnostic testing
• Maintain spare parts inventory and equipment records
• Continuously research the latest telecom technologies to advise strategies

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in Telecom Engineering or equivalent with 2 years’ experience
• HND in Telecom with minimum 4 years supporting PBX infrastructure
• Experience specifically with Alcatel or other leading PBX platforms
• Expert knowledge of VoIP protocols, wiring schematics and diagnostics
• Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills
