Machtec Engineering and Supplies is looking for a motivated and skilled Stores/Buyer to join our dynamic team. As a Stores/Buyer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our stores area by managing daily receipts and issues, maintaining accurate inventory records, preparing management reports, and overseeing housekeeping and safety requirements.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our company’s success in the procurement and stores management domain.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Capture all daily stores receipts and issues, ensuring meticulous documentation and efficient administration.
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date inventory records, including stock levels, item descriptions, and storage locations.
  • Prepare regular management reports that provide insights into stock levels, consumption patterns, and emerging trends.
  • Oversee housekeeping activities in the stores area, promoting cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) standards in the stores department.
  • Conduct monthly and perpetual stock counts to identify discrepancies, address issues, and reconcile inventory records.
  • Evaluate suppliers and goods based on criteria such as quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and address stores-related requirements and challenges.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to facilitate timely deliveries and resolve any supply-related issues.
  • Implement effective stock control measures, including efficient storage, proper rotation, and appropriate disposal processes.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new products, and technological advancements relevant to stores management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a purchasing or supply chain function.
  • Diploma-level education in purchasing or supply chain management is desirable.
  • Proficiency in using software such as Pastel and MS Office for inventory management and reporting.
  • Familiarity with stores management systems and experience with stocktaking processes.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to pack and organize store shelves efficiently and effectively.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working well with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
