GSU is in the process of constructing its main campus on an 87-hectare site in Gwanda, accompanied by a 2.5-hectare farm in Filabusi. As an esteemed educational institution, GSU offers a conducive environment for personal and professional growth.

Gwanda State University is looking for a talented and creative Social Media Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a Social Media Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective social media strategies to promote the university’s brand, engage with the online community, and drive meaningful connections with our target audience. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with the university’s goals and objectives.
  • Create captivating content for various social media platforms, including text, images, videos, and HTML.
  • Manage and maintain the university’s social media accounts, ensuring consistent branding and messaging.
  • Monitor social media trends, emerging platforms, and competitor activities to identify new opportunities for engagement.
  • Engage with the online community by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure coordinated efforts in social media marketing campaigns.
  • Analyze social media metrics and generate reports to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Stay updated on current best practices in social media marketing and implement innovative strategies to enhance the university’s online presence.
  • Monitor and manage online reputation by addressing any negative feedback or comments promptly and effectively.
  • Stay informed about relevant industry news, trends, and advancements in social media technology and tools.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A good first degree in Journalism, Media, Marketing, Advertising, Communication, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Five (5) Ordinary Level passes, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Proven working experience of at least two (2) years in social media marketing or as a digital media specialist.
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing tools and social analytics.
  • Excellent writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in web design, web development, and online marketing.
  • Familiarity with major marketing channels and social networking platforms.
  • Positive attitude, detail-oriented, customer-oriented, and ability to multitask effectively.
