Job Description

Secondary Book Press, is an independent publishing company based in Harare, Zimbabwe. Established in April 2018, Secondary Book Press focuses on publishing books from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to Tertiary Level. With a commitment to producing quality books, they contribute to the growth of the education sector in Africa.

Secondary Book Press is looking for a dynamic Project Management Coordinator to join their team. As a Project Management Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating multiple projects in book publishing.

Your role will involve communicating with key stakeholders in the book production process, ensuring effective project management, and maintaining high standards of copy and structural editing.


  • Perform content editing, copy editing, and structural editing, as well as proofreading before submitting books for design.
  • Monitor the progress of projects and create status reports for management.
  • Commission authors and maintain regular follow-ups to ensure books are authored accordingly.
  • Manage timelines for the publishing of scheduled books.
  • Schedule stakeholder meetings and facilitate communication between the Head of Publishing and stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
  • Manage project documents, including manuscripts and related files, as directed by management.
  • Execute various project management administrative tasks, such as filing.
  • Provide support to team members in implementing risk management strategies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, education, or a related field.
  • Diploma in Project Management or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of project management software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in the English Language.
  • Experience in book publishing is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in project coordination, project management roles, or related fields.
  • Knowledge in content editing, copy editing, and structural editing, as well as proofreading.
  • Fact-checking and research expertise.
