Job Description
Our client, a significant manufacturing player in the iron and steel industry is looking for a production supervisor who has excellent multitasking abilities. The production supervisor is responsible for increasing productivity with innovative methods and motivating staff to perform better.
To be successful as a production supervisor you must be goal-oriented and methodical. A good production supervisor keeps up to date with new innovations in production and ensures that health and safety laws are followed.
The purpose of the role is to plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
Responsibilities
- Monitors daily productions and quality control performance records, identifying inefficiencies and taking responsive and corrective actions where necessary assisting in all aspects of the production floor.
- Sets up for each activity according to standard operating procedures.
- Advises management of potential equipment or facilities concerns and/or failures which may directly affect quality, productivity, or safety.
- Monitors inventory and production schedules, checks logs and receives incoming materials.
- Set daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicate them to employees.
- Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules.
- Ensure that sufficient parts and supplies are on hand to meet all production needs.
- Ensure the safe use of equipment and schedule regular maintenance.
- Check production output according to specifications.
- Identify issues in efficiency and suggest improvements.
- Enforce strict safety guidelines and company standards.
Requirements and skills
- Minimum of 2 years in a similar position.
- Qualification in steel manufacturing or any related field
- Proven experience as Production Supervisor or similar role
- Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools
