Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) is an internationally accredited examinations board operating under the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

As an autonomous parastatal, ZIMSEC is responsible for assessing, evaluating, and documenting the academic readiness, learning progress, and skill acquisition of students at primary and secondary school levels in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) is looking for a visionary and results-driven Printing and Business Development Director to join the company’s dynamic team. As the Printing and Business Development Director, you will play a crucial role in overseeing all printing production and business development requirements.

Your expertise and leadership will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This position requires a technical individual who can effectively manage high-tech and modern printing technologies, catering to the diverse needs of Council’s specialized security print products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, monitor, and manage performance within the printing production team, providing guidance, support, and training as needed to achieve efficient administrative and print flow.
  • Develop and implement streamlined processes and procedures for print production, focusing on cost reduction and achieving high-quality production and timely dispatch of printed products.
  • Enhance safety measures and production volume through the implementation of SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) systems.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in printing technologies and techniques, ensuring continuous improvement and innovation within the print production department.
  • Review, approve, and recommend cost estimates for print projects, considering factors such as quantity, turnaround time, and shipping costs. Maintain accurate records of printing press jobs, including job numbers and invoices.
  • Ensure the production of examination and examination-related materials adheres to high-quality standards, timeliness, and quantity requirements.
  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities, building strong relationships with customers, suppliers, distributors, partners, and vendors.
  • Conduct research on emerging trends and recommend new offerings to satisfy customer needs. Provide advice on product development, distribution, and promotion strategies.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for senior management and Council Board Committees, presenting key performance indicators and strategic recommendations.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time to support the goals of ZIMSEC.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Production Engineering/Manufacturing in the Printing industry or a relevant field.
  • A Business Development qualification is a must.
  • An additional relevant Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Printing, Packaging, and Finishing industry.
  • Proven experience in managerial roles.
  • Strong business development, sales, or marketing experience.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective leadership and management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Ability to plan and direct the efficient and cost-effective operation of the Council’s printing business unit.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
