Milton Park Medical Centre is looking for a skilled and dedicated Operating Theatre Nurse to join the company’s dynamic team. As an Operating Theatre Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.

You will work alongside a team of medical professionals in a fast-paced and challenging environment. This position offers competitive remuneration, allowances, and other incentives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing the operating theatre for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterilized.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical technicians, to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Provide pre-operative care to patients, including assessing their health status, reviewing medical histories, and obtaining informed consent.
  • Monitor patients during surgery, including vital signs, anesthesia administration, and surgical site sterilization.
  • Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and blood products as needed during surgery, following established protocols.
  • Assist the surgical team in positioning and preparing the patient for surgery, including draping and securing the operative site.
  • Handle surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring proper sterilization and maintenance.
  • Document patient information, surgical procedures, and medications administered accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide post-operative care to patients, including monitoring vital signs, managing pain, and addressing any complications or adverse reactions.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans, ensuring continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards to maintain a safe and sterile operating environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered General Nurse with a Diploma in Operating Nursing.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in operating theatres.
  • Current Practicing Certificate from the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe.
  • Excellent knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient care.
  • Ability to work effectively under demanding and time-sensitive conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with the surgical team and provide compassionate care to patients.
