NUST is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join the university’s dynamic team. As a Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the university’s network infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement new network solutions to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the university’s network infrastructure.
  • Install, configure, and support network equipment, including firewalls, routers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Procure network equipment and manage subcontractors involved in network installation.
  • Configure firewalls, routing, and switching to optimize network performance and ensure security.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime.
  • Perform server virtualization and schedule upgrades to improve network functionality.
  • Supervise junior staff members and provide guidance on network-related tasks.
  • Maintain and update network equipment with the latest firmware releases to ensure optimal performance.
  • Prepare reports on network status and present them to key stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies, recommending improvements to enhance the university’s network infrastructure.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science discipline, Electronic Engineering, or Information Technology, or an equivalent accredited qualification from a recognized university or institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in network engineering.
  • Possession of CCNA certification is required.
  • CCNP certification will be considered an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of network design principles, protocols, and technologies.
  • Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting network equipment, including firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • Experience in network performance monitoring and optimization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
