Established in 1949, SOS Children’s Villages International is a global organization dedicated to protecting orphaned and vulnerable children. In Zimbabwe for over 30 years, SOS assists children through family-based care, education and social support programming.

SOS Children’s Villages Zimbabwe seeks a skilled Librarian to manage the school library. This role promotes literacy and independent learning through curating resources and partnering with educators.

Responsibilities:

• Select, procure and organize multi-format materials aligned to curriculum needs
• Maintain cataloguing and lending systems both physical and digital
• Promote library services and resources to students and staff
• Train users on research skills and information navigation
• Collaborate with teachers on class projects and ensuring collections meet needs
• Keep library well-organized, presentable and in compliance with standards
• Provide guidance to students on educational resources and assignments
• Manage circulation and inventory of all library materials
• Produce statistical reports about library usage and resources
• Identify areas for further development and carry out special projects

Requirements:

• Diploma/Degree in Library Sciences or related field
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a public/school library environment
• Proficiency with library databases and digital resource management
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Able to work independently and with others
• Passion for fostering literacy and learning in children
