The Standards Association of Zimbabwe is looking for a driven and knowledgeable Legal Officer to join the association’s dynamic team. As the Legal Officer, you will be responsible for conducting legal research, providing advice, and ensuring compliance with legal and statutory requirements.

Your expertise in legal drafting and contract review will be instrumental in maintaining the association’s legal framework. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of legal strategies that promote standardization and improve business practices across Zimbabwe.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review draft legal contracts, leases, and other related documents.
  • Review and formulate legal policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Provide timely and accurate legal advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and statutory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate legal compliance risks.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address legal issues and provide guidance.
  • Represent the association in legal proceedings, as required.
  • Stay updated on legal developments and changes in relevant legislation.
  • Communicate complex legal concepts effectively to stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a reputable institution.
  • Registered Legal Practitioner.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance duties and legal drafting.
  • Familiarity with standardization processes is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
