Job Description

Westridge High School is a multi-cultural, multi-racial, co-educational high school located in Harare, Zimbabwe. Westridge High School is looking for a dynamic and experienced Head Teacher to join our team. As the Head Teacher, you will play a crucial role in the leadership and development of our school. This position requires a candidate who is committed to child-centred education, promoting student well-being, and fostering a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision to ensure the delivery of high-quality education at Westridge High School.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a holistic, wide, and futuristic curriculum that aligns with the school’s mission and values.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes respect, integrity, and excellence among students, teachers, and staff.
  • Manage and support the professional development of teaching staff, ensuring their continuous growth and effectiveness in the classroom.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and the school board, to maintain strong relationships and open lines of communication.
  • Implement effective strategies for student discipline, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and academic performance, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the school, including budgeting, resource allocation, and facilities management.
  • Stay abreast of educational trends, developments, and best practices, incorporating them into school policies and practices.
  • Promote the school within the community and engage in activities that enhance its reputation and standing.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience as a teacher at an ATS high school.
  • Proven track record in senior management, demonstrating leadership skills and effective decision-making.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to maintain high standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Financial and IT skills to contribute to strategic development and day-to-day operations.
  • Citizenship or permanent residency in Zimbabwe.
