As the Group Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the financial accounting team, ensuring accurate record-keeping, implementing controls and procedures, and producing group statutory accounts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leading and managing the financial accounting team, ensuring high-quality financial record keeping, controls, and procedures.
- Overseeing the production of group statutory accounts and returns in compliance with professional standards.
- Managing the Finance and Payroll systems, including accounts receivables/payables, treasury management, and systems accounting functions.
- Preparing local government statutory accounts.
- Providing expert technical advice to senior stakeholders on various finance matters, including financial modelling, debt and capital, taxation, and audit.
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining systems to support the objectives of the finance function and the organization.
- Taking a proactive corporate role in managing the finance function and contributing to the achievement of the organization’s objectives.
- Encouraging partnership working across the organization to facilitate collaboration and efficient operations.
- Developing and motivating the team, fostering their growth and maintaining a positive work environment.
- Demonstrating good organizational abilities, managing time and resources effectively, and maintaining a high level of detail and accuracy.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A degree in Accounting or equivalent.
- Professional qualifications such as CIMA or CA will be an added advantage.
- Sound knowledge of finance and accounting principles and practices.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a similar role or related environment.
- Demonstrate the aptitude and competence required for assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
