Job Description

The Competition and Tariff Commission plays a vital role in promoting fair competition and protecting consumer interests. Established to ensure market efficiency and regulate trade practices, the Commission contributes to the economic growth of Zimbabwe’s various sectors.

The Competition and Tariff Commission is looking for a motivated Graduate Trainee: Accounting to join the company’s dynamic team. This exciting opportunity offers hands-on experience in accounting processes and procedures within a regulatory environment.

As a Graduate Trainee, you will gain valuable insights into financial management and contribute to the Commission’s mission of promoting fair and competitive markets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in processing payment vouchers in adherence to the Commission’s accounting policy and procedure.
  • Provide timely updates to the Sub Accountant regarding the daily cash flow position.
  • Verify and record entries of receipts and payments in the cash books.
  • Support the processing of bank reconciliations using the Pastel Accounting System.
  • Aid in following up on outstanding debtors.
  • Assist in the preparation of Monthly Creditors Reconciliation and address creditors’ queries.
  • Participate in the processing of monthly journals using the Pastel Accounting System.
  • Manage petty cash efficiently.
  • Contribute to budget preparation and monthly management accounts.
  • Assist in processing and maintaining travel and subsistence allowances.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by superiors.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in Accounting, CIMA, HND, or ACCA.
  • Minimum one year of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software, preferably Pastel Accounting System.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
