Job Description

Zimbabwe Health Interventions (ZHI) is a not-for-profit human development organization registered as a Private Voluntary Organization (PVO) under the Private Voluntary Organizations Act.

ZHI’s mission is to develop and deliver innovative and sustainable high-impact, integrated health interventions to the communities it serves, while collaborating with and strengthening existing institutions in Zimbabwe’s health sector.

Zimbabwe Health Interventions (ZHI) is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance and Administrative Clerk to join the company’s dynamic team. As a Finance and Administrative Clerk, you will provide crucial support to the Shared Platform by ensuring the smooth operation of financial services and offering efficient clerical assistance.

This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the organization’s mission of delivering innovative health interventions across Zimbabwe. A competitive remuneration package and other incentives will be provided.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Finance Officer to ensure the seamless functioning of all financial matters.
  • Assist in ensuring that all transactions are properly authorized and supported by complete documentation.
  • Accurately and promptly record accounting data into the accounting system.
  • Establish and maintain an up-to-date and easily accessible filing system for the Finance office, both electronically and in hard copy.
  • Aid in payment processing, VAT claims, year-end preparations, and audit readiness.
  • Coordinate with the finance team to plan and conduct trainings on ZHI’s policies and procedures.
  • Support the Shared Platform in implementing procurement policies and systems, including processing procurement request forms (PRFs), requesting and receiving quotations, facilitating bid analysis, issuing purchase orders, and processing payments.
  • Track and process payments related to Shared Services.
  • Maintain an updated asset register by promptly tagging new assets and participating in asset verification activities.
  • Facilitate office equipment services and repairs.
  • Perform other general finance and administrative functions as requested.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BAcc/BCom/BTech degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Government grants or other donor-funded programs, contracting, and auditing standards will be advantageous.
  • Proven ability to identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building effective relationships with internal customers and stakeholders.
  • Sound knowledge of pricing, contract negotiation, conflict resolution, and relevant policies and procedures.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with accounting packages such as Pastel, AccPac, QuickBooks, or similar software.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs and work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • High ethical standards, integrity, credibility, and respect for diversity.
  • Willingness to travel a minimum of 25%.
