The Industrial Sciences and Technology Department seeks two hardworking General Hands to support teaching and research activities at their fields and greenhouse facilities. Reporting to the Technical Officer, the successful candidates will cultivate plant specimens and maintain growing environments.

This role provides an exciting opportunity to gain valuable practical skills while supporting applied learning and research initiatives in Zimbabwe’s technology sector. Passionate candidates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare soil and assist with planting, fertilizing, watering and harvesting crops
• Monitor plant health and provide care such as pruning, pest control and staking
• Operate and perform minor maintenance on specialized equipment
• Maintain tidy facilities and supplies of tools, materials and records
• Assist lecturers, researchers and students with field activities

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 O-Levels including English Language and Agriculture
• 1-2 years relevant experience in horticulture, landscaping or similar role
• Physical fitness to perform outdoor duties in all weather conditions
• Strong work ethic, self-motivation and ability to work independently
• Basic understanding of plant cultivation, soil science and greenhouse operations
