Midlands State University (MSU) is looking for a skilled and passionate Fashion Designer to join the university’s dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in developing compelling designs that align with the MSU Enterprises brand identity, drive strong sales, and inspire market appeal.

As a Fashion Designer, you will have the opportunity to bring your creative ideas to life through sketching and designing innovative fashion pieces. Join our team and contribute to the exciting world of fashion at MSU.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop compelling designs that align with the MSU Enterprises brand identity and drive strong sales.
  • Create seasonal concepts to inspire product innovation and market appeal.
  • Sketch and develop creative ideas to bring designs to life.
  • Produce CAD sketches and technical packs to guide the production process accurately.
  • Collaborate closely with the Production team to ensure optimal fit, design, construction, and adherence to timelines.
  • Engage with the Sales team to gather market feedback and assess product sell-through.
  • Assist in tracking samples throughout various stages of production.
  • Ensure punctual completion of tasks to meet critical path deadlines.
  • Stay updated on the latest fashion trends, techniques, and industry developments.
  • Maintain accurate records of design specifications, measurements, and other relevant information.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least a National Diploma (ND) in Clothing and Fashion Design.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the clothing and textiles industry.
  • Ability to interpret trends and design products with commercial value.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for fashion design.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction techniques and fabric properties.
  • Excellent attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities within a team environment.
