Job Description

Zimbabwe Media Commission is a regulatory body responsible for overseeing and ensuring the proper functioning of media activities in Zimbabwe.

With a focus on promoting independent editorial oversight, sustainable funding for public service media, and delivering value for the public, the commission plays a crucial role in shaping the media landscape. As a key institution in the media sector, Zimbabwe Media Commission contributes to the development and integrity of the media industry in the country.

Zimbabwe Media Commission is looking for a skilled and reliable Driver/Messenger – Grade B3 to join the commission’s dynamic team in Harare. This role involves providing efficient transportation services, delivering and collecting mail and documents, performing messenger duties, and undertaking work-related errands.

The Driver/Messenger will also be responsible for maintaining the commission’s vehicle in good condition. This is an opportunity for an individual with excellent time management, communication skills, and a clean driving record to contribute to the smooth operations of Zimbabwe Media Commission.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely and punctually deliver and collect mail and documents as required.
  • Perform messenger duties, including distributing correspondence and packages.
  • Run work-related errands, such as purchasing office supplies or delivering documents to various locations.
  • Ensure the commission’s vehicle is well-maintained, clean, and in good working condition.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance checks on the vehicle, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Adhere to traffic rules and regulations and prioritize passenger safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks, such as filing and organizing documents.
  • Provide support during meetings and events by arranging transportation for staff and guests.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanour while interacting with stakeholders and the public.
  • Follow designated routes and schedules to ensure timely transportation and delivery of items.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of three Ordinary Level subjects, including English.
  • Possession of a clean driver’s license for classes 3 and 4.
  • Three traceable references.
  • Defensive driving certificate.
  • Good time management and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work long hours when required.
