Bantwana Zimbabwe is looking for a highly motivated and skilled District Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer to join our dynamic team in Bulawayo. As the MEL Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing data collection, analysis, and reporting efforts, ensuring adherence to monitoring and evaluation guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Track and assess project activities, ensuring compliance with Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) guidelines.
  • Collect, verify, and analyze data, ensuring its accuracy and authenticity.
  • Maintain minimum standards for all MEL activities, including data collection, collation, verification, storage, analysis, and reporting.
  • Provide training and capacity development to staff and volunteers on MEL activities to ensure high-quality data collection.
  • Support district teams in producing relevant service cascades.
  • Participate in the continuous review of monitoring tools, providing feedback to improve their relevance.
  • Utilize data to identify key program issues and refine monitoring systems to address bottlenecks.
  • Assist in the collection of survey data, success stories, lessons learned, best practices, and stories of significant change.
  • Support the implementation of the Zingane MEL Plan.
  • Supervise District MEL Health Assistants and Data Entry Clerks, ensuring timely and accurate data capturing.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly SIE reports based on agreed indicators, guiding decision-making and program implementation at the district level.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Monitoring and Evaluation, or Operations Research.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Proficient in quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of OVC programming indicators.
  • Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative data collection using tools like DHIS2/OVC MIS, Excel, Epi-Info, Python, or similar software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
