Job Description

CeSHHAR Zimbabwe is an organization specializing in sexual health, HIV and AIDS research in Zimbabwe. CeSHHAR, in collaboration with the MOHCC and NAC, implements a National Sex Work Programme aimed at reducing HIV acquisition and transmission among female, male, and transgender sex workers.

By increasing awareness, access to STI & HIV prevention, testing, and treatment services, CeSHHAR plays a critical role in reducing the transmission of STIs and HIV infections among key populations.

CeSHHAR Zimbabwe is looking for a dedicated and passionate District Economic Strengthening Officer to join our dynamic team. As the District Economic Strengthening Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the DREAMS economic strengthening package in DREAMS districts.

Your role will involve supporting Young Women Who Sell Sex (YWSS) in undertaking economic strengthening activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Site Manager, Site Outreach Lead, and Community Based Facilitators (CBFs) to ensure the successful implementation of the DREAMS economic strengthening program in designated districts.
  • Plan and execute the DREAMS economic strengthening program at the district level in collaboration with Outreach Workers, Regional Coordinators, Site Outreach Leads, and the SIE Team.
  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships to support the program’s economic strengthening goals.
  • Develop and maintain linkages with governments, organizations, and projects that promote economic strengthening activities.
  • Utilize project management tools to effectively plan, review, and track the progress of project implementation.
  • Facilitate high-quality training sessions and provide systematic post-training supportive supervision and mentoring to YWSS.
  • Document project results and impacts through various means, such as media stories, case studies, and client satisfaction reports.
  • Support Community Based Facilitators (CF) in identifying, mobilizing, and recruiting YWSS into ISALS clubs and identifying those eligible for the Economic Strengthening pathways.
  • Ensure program quality by adhering to program standard operating procedures and guidelines in clubs.
  • Monitor and track weekly targets, mobilize project data, and contribute to program monitoring efforts.
  • Prepare project reports as required and complete any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Economics, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in youth health interventions and/or economic strengthening programming.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering training and mentoring in youth-focused interventions.
  • Strong background in program planning, community mobilization, program implementation, and capacity building.
  • Knowledge of health and development interventions, including HIV/AIDS, key populations, and mental health.
  • Familiarity with the aims, principles, values, and rights-based approaches of the DREAMS program for young people.
  • Non-judgmental engagement with beneficiaries and stakeholders, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Ndebele is a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent planning and administrative abilities.
