Job Description
Teach for Zimbabwe (TFZ) is a not-for-profit organization registered in the Republic of Zimbabwe (ROZ) and a partner of the Teach for All (TFA) Global network. TFZ collaborates with a network of over 60 partner organizations worldwide to reshape educational systems and provide inclusive and quality education to marginalized communities.
Their goal is to remove educational barriers for marginalized children, ensuring equitable and holistic education for all. TFZ recruits university graduates with diverse academic backgrounds, trains them, and places them in low-income schools in rural and marginalized communities. TFZ seeks a dynamic Development Manager to coordinate fundraising initiatives and build strategic partnerships.
The Development Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating Teach for Zimbabwe’s fundraising efforts. This role involves building relationships with public and private organizations as well as individuals to secure philanthropic support and strategic partnerships.
The Development Manager develops fundraising strategies, sets and achieves fundraising goals, maintains donor relationships, participates in fundraising events, and promotes TFZ’s mission and values to external stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:
The Development Manager will be responsible for:
- Developing an effective fundraising strategy.
- Securing financial support for TFZ programs from individual donors and entities.
- Setting and achieving fundraising goals.
- Maintaining knowledge of fundraisers’ interests and actively participating in fundraising events and initiatives.
- Maintaining a social media presence and building lasting relationships with donors, keeping them informed of the impact of their contributions.
- Providing regular progress reports to executive management.
- Collaborating with network partners to identify and build relationships with new donors.
- Maintaining relationships with existing sponsors.
- Managing fundraising and special events.
- Leading prospect research aligned with the Development Strategy and goals.
- Designing and managing Development & Partnership tools such as the fundraising tracker and donor cultivation.
- Leading proposal writing, reports, and grant applications as appropriate.
- Managing internal communications between the Development and Partnerships team and other key functional units.
Job Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Business development experience.
- Proficiency in sponsorship solicitation.
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Office applications and CRMs.
- Proficiency in using social media platforms.
- Excellent understanding of best practices in fundraising.
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Availability to travel, work weekends, and evenings.
- Understanding of financial reporting according to donor requirements and budgeting.
- Experience in working in Non-Governmental Organizations and/or donor-funded projects.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and using data to inform strategic and tactical decisions.
- Experience in working and living in Zimbabwe or a similar context is an added advantage.
