The Office of the Auditor General Zimbabwe (OAG) is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Computer Technician to join its dynamic team in Harare. As a Computer Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and ensuring the reliable operation of computer systems.

Your role will involve providing user support, installing and supporting software and hardware, managing IT equipment, troubleshooting computer-related issues, and maintaining the stability of the OAG’s network systems. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the efficient functioning of the OAG’s IT infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting staff training on IT processes and procedures, including login credentials, email use, and passwords.
  • Provide user support for complaints related to computer-aided audit tools, computer applications, and software.
  • Share domain expertise with team members to increase collective knowledge.
  • Administer the OAG LAN/WAN infrastructure components, such as printers, telecommunication services, CCTV access control, and anti-virus software.
  • Safeguard ICT infrastructure and handle escalated incidents.
  • Provide technical input and recommendations for acquiring IT hardware and software systems.
  • Support off-hours emergencies and activities at OAG premises.
  • Perform periodic updates and maintenance of OAG websites.
  • Manage and update the IT inventory register according to OAG policy and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network and user problems, operating the help desk for OAG staff.
  • Provide OAG staff with connection support for the internet and intercom systems.
  • Maintain the optimum operation and stability of the OAG network system and server infrastructure.
  • Perform periodic system and data backups and ensure business continuity and disaster recovery measures for OAG IT assets.
  • Configure all IT-related infrastructure and services activities securely within the OAG IT infrastructure.
  • Prepare and submit periodic performance reports on OAG systems to support capacity planning and development strategies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline from a recognized university or institution.
  • Knowledge of various computer applications, software, and hardware.
  • Understanding of existing and emerging technology trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
