In line with our commitment to making a significant impact, SCORE prioritizes locally-led initiatives, sustainable solutions, and inclusive strategies. Score Against Poverty (SCORE) is looking for a dedicated and passionate Clean Energy and Climate Change Officer to join the organization’s dynamic team.

As the Clean Energy and Climate Change Officer, you will play a crucial role in implementing the Locally Led Indigenous Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation in Zimbabwe (LINCZ) project. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to environmental sustainability, community empowerment, and climate resilience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the design, production, and distribution of local improved cook stoves integrated with biomass fuels and alternatives such as briquettes and LPG.
  • Lead technical trainings on improved cook stove production and usage in collaboration with cook stove producers.
  • Ensure high-quality implementation of project deliverables in cooking using energy technologies, biomass cooking fuels, biogas digesters, and off-grid solar products.
  • Stimulate private sector investment for sustained market presence of certified solar products and services in Mwenezi district.
  • Provide technical assistance in the installation and maintenance of solar energy technologies and biogas digesters.
  • Revitalize and introduce local forestry measures to alleviate reliance on traditional biomass, including agro-forestry wood lots linked to community reforestation financing.
  • Collaborate with the climate change advocacy officer and the Program Coordinator to execute timely monitoring and evaluation work plans, including data collection, results verification, risk monitoring, and reporting processes.
  • Synthesize, analyze, and document project insights and results related to energy technology product-service development, delivery, use, and quality control.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with government and local authorities, like-minded national and international partners or programs in Mwenezi district, external partners, and the donor.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Project Director.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma or degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or any relevant technical field.
  • Proven experience of at least 3 years in working with alternative/renewable energy, woodland management, or any related work.
  • Strong understanding of installation processes and safety procedures for handling biogas digesters, solar energy systems, and fuel-efficient stove technologies.
  • Analytical skills in conducting onsite inspections.
  • Experience with preparing budgets and plans for energy projects.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and any other relevant database software.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize work.
