Job Description

The Zimbabwe Red Cross Society, a member of the global Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, is a voluntary organization whose aim is to alleviate the suffering of the most vulnerable communities. It is an auxiliary to the government as mandated through the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society Act of Parliament No 30 of 1981, also known as Chapter 17.08.

With branches throughout the country, the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society is part of the global Red Cross movement present in 189 countries. Their beneficiary list includes orphans and vulnerable children, the elderly, the chronically ill, the HIV infected and affected, the elderly and widowed, and the generally disadvantaged members of the community. As a disaster relief organization, the ZRCS is also a member of the Civil Protection Unit (CPU) and responds to both natural and manmade disasters.

The Zimbabwe Red Cross Society is looking for a Chief Training Coordinator to head the Training department responsible for conducting various First Aid Courses and related activities.

As the Chief Training Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in designing training curricula, developing training materials, and ensuring the training objectives are met. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the mission of the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society and make a positive impact on vulnerable communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design training curricula for First Aid/Home Nursing and Training of Trainers (Instructors) courses for the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society.
  • Develop relevant and value-adding training material aligned with the organization’s guidelines.
  • Evaluate training policy guidelines to ensure alignment with training needs and curricula.
  • Analyze feedback and make necessary amendments to the training program.
  • Design training manuals for internal documented procedures.
  • Develop teaching aids, such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
  • Align interventions with e-learning and online initiatives.
  • Participate in the development and coordination of the training policy.
  • Conduct training needs assessments.
  • Moderate training interventions and assessments for formal programs.
  • Maintain a disciplined workforce by administering the code of conduct.
  • Facilitate initial First Aid Training for new employees.
  • Monitor and report on training projects and initiatives.
  • Assist and prepare facilitators and assessors with online-related activities during program development.
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with reporting and record-keeping.
  • Consolidate training plans and budgets for the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society.
  • Manage both physical and electronic training records.
  • Conduct theory and practical assessments in line with assessment guidelines.
  • Ensure the issuance of relevant certifications.
  • Conduct First Aid Competitions.
  • Design and distribute annual training programs to mines, private companies, and provinces.
  • Facilitate the setting up of the examination board.
  • Design research proposals and conduct research on training-related problems and issues.
  • Develop and disseminate information promoting and informing the public about courses offered by the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society and services available at the National Training Centre.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Training Management, Adult Education.
  • Degree in Business Studies, Administration, Marketing, or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Masters in Business Administration/Strategic/Business Leadership.
  • Membership of a recognized professional institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience at the managerial level, with at least 3 years in health-related training management.
  • Strong supervisory and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as a team player.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
