Job Description

POTRAZ is a leading regulatory authority in Zimbabwe’s telecommunications sector. Established with the aim of promoting the development and efficient use of telecommunications services, POTRAZ plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance and fostering corporate governance within the industry.

POTRAZ is looking for a highly skilled and dedicated Building Caretaker to join the organization’s dynamic team. As a Building Caretaker, you will be responsible for maintaining the organization’s equipment, furniture, electrical systems, buildings, and grounds.

Your role will contribute to maintaining a positive image of POTRAZ to its stakeholders. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the upkeep of the organization’s facilities and ensure a safe and well-maintained working environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, monitor, and record building cleaning standards and the performance of cleaners/contractors according to the building cleaning specifications.
  • Identify and address repair needs related to various construction trades, including building, carpentry, plumbing, painting, and electrical work, especially for tasks of moderate complexity.
  • Collaborate closely with the Estates Officer to carry out maintenance and repair work for the building and offices.
  • Ensure all doors and access points are secure to minimize the loss of personal and organizational property.
  • Liaise with the Loss Control Unit to ensure security guards fulfill their duties as per the Service Level Agreement.
  • Monitor and report any trespassers to the HQ Building to the Loss Control Unit and Security.
  • Work closely with the Procurement Management Unit to obtain quotations for urgent maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with service manuals for motorized equipment, generators, air conditioning units, and firefighting equipment, promptly reporting any faults.
  • Supervise outsourced contractors to ensure effective landscaping.
  • Contact appropriate service providers in case of emergencies such as fire, floods, break-ins, vandalism, and accidents.
  • Monitor payments of utility bills and rates for POTRAZ properties.
  • Prepare monthly reports on the state of the building for submission to management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Electrical, Plumbing, or Building.
  • Journeyperson Class One.
  • 5 “O” Levels, including Maths, English, and Science.
  • Clean class 4 Driver’s License.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in property management.
