Job Description

The Office of the Auditor General Zimbabwe (OAG) is the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of Zimbabwe, dedicated to providing exceptional auditing services. The Office of the Auditor General Zimbabwe (OAG) is seeking a skilled and qualified Auditor to join its team in Harare. As an Auditor, you will play a crucial role in assessing financial risk, reviewing financial reporting and accounting transactions processes and controls, and executing audits in a timely and accurate manner.

You will be responsible for conducting audit verifications, preparing audit opinions and management letters, and participating in entry and exit meetings. Join the OAG’s dynamic team and contribute to the institution’s commitment to excellence in auditing services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess financial risk, financial reporting, and accounting transactions processes and controls.
  • Undertake risk assessment, analysis, and propose mitigation measures through an understanding of the entity and its environment.
  • Prepare audit files with all required documentation.
  • Prepare lead schedules and compute materiality levels of audited entities.
  • Carry out audits with the assigned team in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Obtain sufficient and reliable information through inspection, observation, inquiries, and confirmation to provide a reasonable basis for an opinion regarding the activity of the organization under examination.
  • Perform audit tests on various components such as expenditure, procurement, and revenue flows from government projects and programs in the respective field of audit.
  • Assist in the development of verification schedules with audited institutions.
  • Conduct audit verifications and draft verification reports.
  • Prepare draft audit opinions and propose corrective and preventative actions based on the audits conducted.
  • Prepare draft management letters in accordance with the requirements of the OAG and international standards.
  • Attend entry and exit meetings for audit assignments.
  • Document management responses, resolutions, and minutes from entry and exit meetings.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • An Accounting/Auditing Degree.
  • Part professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or CTA Level 2.
  • Maximum age of 35 years.
