EmpowerBank Limited is looking for a highly skilled Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic team. As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in our Finance department, overseeing financial reporting, controls, and asset register maintenance. We are seeking a qualified and experienced candidate with a background in the financial services sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage month-end activities, ensuring all entries are processed correctly and on time.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, tracking and recording all relevant information.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy, and systematic filing of all financial records.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial data and information for reporting purposes.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports in compliance with IFRS and IAS standards.
  • Conduct regular audits of financial processes and procedures to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide support in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
  • Assist with external audits and regulatory compliance requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Hold a degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Full membership with ACCA, CIS, or completion of articled clerkship.
  • Minimum of 2 years of working experience in Finance, preferably within the financial services sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and IAS standards is critical.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
