Job Description

Mutasa Rural District Council is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Clerk to join the council’s dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing various accounting tasks and ensuring accurate financial records are maintained.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of accounts clerks, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Prepare reports on financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations to verify and balance financial data.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, including monitoring expenditure and identifying variances.
  • Process invoices, payments, and receipts, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to internal controls.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records, including ledgers, journals, and other financial documents.
  • Conduct periodic audits to identify discrepancies and resolve any issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to address accounting-related inquiries or concerns.
  • Stay up-to-date with accounting principles, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Possess at least five O’ level subjects, including English and Mathematics.
  • Hold a degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in using accounting software such as Pastel and Belina.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
